摘要: Biomonitoring of surface waters using benthic macroinvertebrates is a common practice in developed countries. However, the use biomonitoring metrics as part regular monitoring programs developing countries scarce. This study aimed at identifying macroinvertebrate-based approaches which can be potentially applied to assess ecological status Mexican streams, and provide guidelines practical tools implement such approaches. In this study, total 35 were selected, divided into following classes: 5 richness, 11 list organisms (enumeration metrics), 6 diversity similarity indices, 7 biotic functional feeding 1 multimetric approach. selection was made posteriori Characteristics as: sensitivity, relevance, representativity, feasibility, metric interpretation, performance, geographical suitability also taken consideration during process. A description sampling analytical procedures necessary compute selected are described. We an inventory macroinvertebrate that could used Mexico nearby areas. further work required determine accuracy performance these for assessment streams.
