摘要: We review basic quantum electrodynamics and optics aspects in microstructures that exhibit a gap the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation they support, known as photonic crystals. After brief sketch properties such materials we discuss behaviour few-level atoms or collections thereof with transition frequencies inside vicinity gap. The discussion is cast terms unified formalism which facilitates comparison standard cavity-atom physics.
