摘要: AIMS AND BACKGROUND The study evaluated the use of Italian hospital discharge data (SDO, scheda di dimissione ospedaliera) for identifying women with incident breast cancer, determining stage at diagnosis and assessing quality care. STUDY DESIGN Women aged 20+ years residing in Regione Emilia-Romagna, Italy, between 2002 2005 were studied. Case identification using algorithms based on ICD-9-CM codes compared AIRTUM-accredited cancer registry data. Sensitivity, specificity positive predictive value computed overall, by age stage. Compliance guidelines radiation therapy compared. RESULTS A total 11,615 was identified registries as cases, whereas 10,876 SDO algorithm. Sensitivity 84.8%, 99.9%, 90.6%. Of 1,022 who false positives, 363 (35.5%) having an case prior to therefore not included analysis. There 1,761 negatives; nearly 50% over 70 or did undergo a surgical procedure our SDO-based finding. declined patient population became older. However, we observed relatively good all groups. Algorithms clearly identify specific stages. algorithm may have utility where stages are grouped together measures. CONCLUSIONS Cases sensitivity, data, better rates than similar previously published These claims-based facilitate care analyses large populations when available individual their subsequent health services.
