摘要: Thanks to its observational frequency of 15 min, the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) geostationary satellite offers a great potential monitor dust storms. To explore this potential, an algorithm for detection and retrieval aerosol optical properties has been tested. This is multispectral based on visible infrared data which applied case studies selected between 2007 2011. The validated in latitude–longitude box 30 50 degrees north, −10 20 east, respectively. Hereafter we present obtained results that have against Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) ground-based measurements compared with retrievals from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) NASA’s Terra Aqua satellites. depth variations observed at AERONET sites are well reproduced, showing good correlation about 0.77, root mean square difference within 0.08, spatial patterns retrieved by using developed agreement those MODIS.
