ABUNDANCE AND COMPOSITION OF ZOOPLANKTON AT SITAKUNDA COAST OF CHITTAGONG, BANGLADESH

Eight groups zooplankton found at Sitakunda coast, Chittagong, northeastern part Bay Bengal during January June 2007. The identified Appendicularia (2.46%), Chaetognatha (2.45%), Cladocera (2.31%), Copepoda (26.05%), Ctenophora (5.86%), Crustacean (21.64%), Ichthyoplankton (17.77%) Meroplankton (21.45%). Abundance varied 413 7730 individuals/m3.Mangrove vegetate area (station- VI) has highest abundant possibly due organic inorganic matters dissolved water while ship breaking IV) lowest abundant. Zooplankton population was significantly (p>0.05) higher mangrove than fishermen community area. composition (57.06%) fishers (29.77% 13.16%, respectively). Calanus sp. (12.29%) belonging Copepods fish eggs (9.25%) most Oikopleura albicans (0.66%) Appendicularia, Metapenaeus brevicornis (0.71%) monoceros (0.90%) larvae species three major investigated Res.
