摘要: The first report describing an action of relaxin on the brain was published in 1984 [1]. Exogenous administration porcine lactating rats suppressed milk-ejection and it suggested that might be inhibiting release oxytocin (Fig. 1). Since time there have been several studies showing affects a number hypothalamo-pituitary hormones [2]. It has may physiological role timing birth [3], cardiovascular control, particularly pregnancy [2] water balance [4,5]. One fundamental question this area research is whether acts ‘on or ‘in’ to its affects. This paper explores evidence suggests act ‘on’ by binding receptors at intermediary sites, notably pituitary gland circumventricular organs. also where produced released locally effects.
