Tailoring phonon band structures with broken symmetry by shaping spatiotemporal modulations of stiffness in a one-dimensional elastic waveguide

摘要: Spatiotemporal modulations of the elastic properties materials can be used to break time and parity symmetry waves. We show that form band structure depends not only on spatial temporal periodicity a spatiotemporal modulation but also its shape through Fourier components. demonstrate hybridization gaps open from interactions between Bloch modes periodic medium in absence variation combined sinusoidal components decomposition modulation.
