摘要: Terminalia chebula Gertn. (Combetraceae) is an important herbal drug in Ayurvedic pharmacopea. In the present study, a 95% ethanolic extract of T. (fruit) (TC extract), which was chemically characterized on basis chebuloside II as marker, investigated for hepatoprotective activity against anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB) drug-induced toxicity. TC found to prevent hepatotoxicity caused by administration rifampicin (RIF), isoniazid (INH) and pyrazinamide (PZA) (in combination) sub-chronic mode (12 weeks). The effect could be attributed its prominent anti-oxidative membrane stabilizing activities. changes biochemical observations were supported histological profile.
