摘要: Cancer of the oral cavity and oropharynx is a significant health burden, with over 300,000 new cases diagnosed annually [1]. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) constitutes 95% these malignancies mostly preceded by lesions termed potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) that have high tendency for transformation [2]. Despite advances in diagnosis treatment modalities, survival rate OSCC has not changed significantly last five decades [3]. The poor prognosis cancer can largely be attributed to its frequent at an advanced stage [4]. Understanding process natural history carcinogenesis capacity improve clinical outcomes patients through early detection effective OPMD management. This chapter discusses most recent concepts knowledge on OPMDs.
