Longitudinal assessment of symptoms of depression, agitation, and psychosis in 181 patients with Alzheimer's disease.

摘要: Objective: The goal of this study was to define the recurrence or continuation neuropsychiatric symptoms iii patients u’ith Alzheimer’s disease who were observed serially for a 1-year period. Method: One hundred eighty-one tvith probable Alzheimer ‘s assessed five times at 3-monti, intervals with standardized rating instrumemit. Results: Recurrence rates during period u’ere 85% depression, 93% agitation, and 95% psychosis. Symptom frequency any point in time underestimated cumulative 1 -year frequency. sigmzificant!) greater among tt’ho had multiple symptoms. Women exhibited more thami mcmi. Patients oldest age group (76-87 years) psychosis, less depression slower cognitive declimie. Psychosis associated muzore rapid decline, amid agitation functional deterioration. Conclusions: These results indicate that omucepsychiatric are present patiemits Alzheimner’s disease, they frequently recur. vary age, sex, rate ill,zess progression.
