摘要: This paper is about the actual and potential development of an ethics that appropriate to practices institutions biobanking, question being how best develop a framework within which relevant ethical questions are first identified then addressed in right ways. It begins with ways standard approach bioethics – namely upholding principle individual autonomy via practice gaining donors’ informed consent inadequate for biobanking. In donating material biobank, donor relinquishes degree control knowledge over way their used large-scale typically open ended projects; identifying nature genetic means third parties have rights interests must be taken into account as well those donor. After discussing problems biobanking context, considers three emerging alternative approaches which, broadly speaking, conceptualize subject communal or co-operative terms: one version sees participants research ‘shareholders’ whilst other expands on notion participation include wider public beneficiaries ‘stakeholders’. concludes by outlining view, institution itself conceived whose defining function can do useful normative work guiding evaluating its activities.
