Ion exchange and charge transport properties of polymeric tris(4-vinyl-4?-methyl-2,2?-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) films

摘要: Multiply charged electroactive anions [IrCl 6 2− , Fe(CN) 3− and W(CN) 8 4− ] are electrostatically incorporated in polymeric films of tris(4-vinyl-4′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) [poly-Ru(vbpy) 3 2+ from aqueous trifluoroacetate solution. Values apparent diffusion coefficients (D ct) heterogenous electron transfer rates (k et) measured for these as a function their relative concentration (Γ M/Γ Ru) the film.D ct andk et decrease systematically asΓ M/Γ Ru increases manner that is independent charge chemical identity ion. This result suggests nonchemical process, presumably electrostatic cross-linking, limits diffusional motion responsible inD ct with increasing anion content. Protonated polyvinyl-pyridine exhibit similar ranges variations andk et, which suggest structures mechanisms transport poly-Ru(vbpy) .
