摘要: Recognition memory for single items can be dissociated from recognition the associations between items. For example, tests words produce curvilinear receiver operating characteristics (ROCs), but associative word pairs linear ROCs. These dissociations are consistent with dual-process theories of and suggest that relies on recollection item a combination assessments familiarity. In present study, we examined ROCs facial stimuli by manipulating central external features, in order to determine whether would observed other than arbitrary pairs. When faces were presented upright, familiarity estimates significantly above zero, curvilinear, suggesting contributed judgments. However, presenting upside down effectively eliminated contribution recognition, linear. The results support judgments, if associated components encoded as coherent gestalt, upright faces.
