摘要: Gene regulatory networks allow single cells to adopt a wide range of different phenotypes in response changes environmental conditions. The ecological implications these cellular computations are poorly understood, and they largely absent from models microbial community assembly. Here, we highlight number examples where interactions or may be affected by computations. Our review identifies specific opportunities for integrating decision-making into mathematical microbe-microbe We argue that incorporating ecology will critical order gain quantitative understanding biogeography.
