摘要: Background: Cardiac myxoma is a benign neoplasm that represents the most prevalent primary tumor of heart. If not treated with right surgical technique recurrence occurs. Aim our study to present approach and histology tumors resected. Methods: All patients, except for one, underwent extracorporeal circulation mild hypothermia, atrial or both incision excision fossa ovalis, followed by prosthetic patch suturing. specimens were submitted microscopic evaluation (haematoxylin-eosin). We contacted personally each patient asked them complete standardized questionnaire, concerning their peri-operative characteristics. Results: Six cases “active” myxomas, 3 “mildly active” “inactive”. “Normal differentiation” was seen in 6, “medium” 1 “poor” 5 cases. In series there no recurrences recorded during follow-up period. Conclusions: The ideal approach, according experience as described Shumacker King, ovalis surrounding tissues closure pericardial patch. Such provides an excellent long-term survival these patients.
