摘要: This thesis explores the feasibility of using electron spins in semiconductor quantum dots as fundamental building blocks for information processing. We start from a general perspective, evaluating possible limits to operation such spin-based system. show that coherence properties are limited by their interaction with lattice nuclear spins. then consider approaches take advantage long and relaxation times mitigate effect on spin, how they could be used resource long-term memory solid-state. Next, we develop techniques experimentally probing spin–nuclear spin interactions dots, demonstrate controlled creation measurement entangled states. A new paradigm processing presence emerges—one uses two form single bit. theoretically potential long-lived this system system, find improved, specialized communication computing pairs Finally, methods scaling large numbers bits robust computation, including fault-tolerant might realized.
