摘要: CONTEXT One strategy to increase the number of physicians in rural and other underserved areas grants a waiver foreign this country on J-1 education visa allowing them stay United States if they practice designated areas. PURPOSE The goal study is evaluate retention acceptance Visa Waiver Wisconsin. METHODS Sites Wisconsin at which with practiced between 1996 2002 were identified. A 12-item survey that assessed these was sent leaders institutions had participated program. Retention compared recruited practices by Office Rural Health during same time period. FINDINGS While there general perception communities well satisfied care provided worked medical community, lower satisfaction physician integration into community-at-large. This found correlate poor rate Waiver. Physicians participating placement program without Waivers entering significantly higher rate. CONCLUSIONS appear provide good work health environments while fulfilling requirements. To keep practicing communities, successful community important.
