International Medical Graduate Training in Urology: Are We Missing an Opportunity?

摘要: Objective To examine trends in international medical graduate (IMG) representation within urology and compare these to those of other specialties. Methods Urology match data were obtained from the American Urological Association 1987 2015. IMG among residencies was extracted reports on Graduate Medical Education published Journal 1978 2013. From 2013, proportion across specialties remained relatively stable (25% 27%), whereas decreased substantially (27% 5%). Conclusion training has dramatically over time remains lower than most are critical as they can assist meeting workforce demands, contribute diversity workplace, help propel field forward through urologic research. Further efforts should be directed toward understanding unique needs helping them navigate challenges practicing a foreign country.
