Studying social technologies and communities of volunteers in emergency management

摘要: Communities of volunteers are fundamental agents in the emergency management process. In spite unquestionable value that social technologies could bring to such communities it is not clear whether they exploiting all their potential and why. This work presents a qualitative study with from different purpose establishing design challenges better leverage can augment capabilities communities. The results suggest need address specific related reliability, integrity, efficient analysis information. addition, integration multiple interaction mechanisms shared calendars as well effective adaptive messages for crisis communications also considered important aspects by volunteers.
