摘要: Investigations involving human faeces and faecal sludge are of great importance for urban sanitation, such as operation maintenance sewer systems, or implementation management. However, working with real matter is difficult it not only involves a pathogenic, malodorous material but also individual samples highly variable, making to execute repeatable experiments. Synthetic can provide consistently reproducible substrate alleviate these challenges. A critical literature review simulants developed various wastewater related research provided. Most studies sought develop simulant representative specific physical, chemical, thermal properties depending on their objectives. Based the review, suitable be chosen used further according needs. As an example, authors present modification development that investigating motion (movement, settling sedimentation) physical biological disintegration in sewers on-site sanitation systems.
