摘要: The majority of States own high-speed devices for measuring longitudinal road profiles that are potentially rich in information about the pavement surface condition. primary objective this research was to advance state practice extracting information. A secondary assist users resolving common measurement errors. Vast amounts measured profile data were acquired evaluate various analysis methods terms their usefulness and validity when applied obtained from different types instruments. Methods determining an index called Rideability Number (RN) studied detail. practical algorithm developed computing RN without bias a variety equipment, with exception those use ultrasonic sensors. Other analyses project include International Roughness Index (IRI), power spectral density (PSD), high-pass filters, cross correlation. coordinated activities Road Profiler User Group (RPUG). critical problem facing profiler is lack knowledge involving technology. Accordingly, 2 1/2 day course on prepared, along first draft companion document "The Little Book Profiling". introduces new basics what profilers are, how they work, can be done data. user-friendly software package RoadRuf includes many methods. had been provided participating States, available Internet.
