摘要: Abstract Biological treatment using attached growth in a three-stage lab-scale rotating biological contactor (RBC) was implemented for wastewater from food cannery industries. The contained high level of organic compounds due to fish and fruit cleaning, cooking filling processes. Nutrients available the enhanced microorganisms allowed be effective. RBC consisted 54 parallel discs reservoir arranged three stages, i.e. 18 oriented each stage. Effect major operating physical variables such as hydraulic retention time (HRT), disc submergence rotational speed were examined COD removal. For duration 5 days, 96.4% BOD removal achieved batch experiment. constant rate ( k ) ultimate determined respectively, 0.8198 day −1 6349 mg/l by Thomas graphical method. efficiency increased 85.3 97.4% while HRT 24 48 h. 74.9 87.5% 31 36%. At 23.7%, activation second third compartments. When 3 11 rpm, also 62.7 93.7%, respectively. stage gradually decreased with an increase number about 88% removed first aerobic RBC, indicating that single reactor may sufficient practical application.
