摘要: In Cambodia, periodic reports since the 1990s have identified sale of large numbers dried pygmy Nycticebus pygmaeus and northern slow lorises N. bengalensis in traditional medi- cine stores. We used interviews questionnaires to identify uses users lorises, elucidate factors affecting selection loris medicines, determine whether access alternative therapies may reduce use medicines. Pygmy were found be most commonly requested animal from medicine stores Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh, primary recalled by sellers women between ages 25 45 middle upper class back- grounds. Lorises reported sourced provinces with protected areas within their distribu- tion ranges. Market values both species more than doubled 1997 2007; however, major- ity respondents expressed reluctance substitute medicines alternatives, indicating that promotion alternatives would an inappropriate conservation tool. Education enhanced law enforcement are vital conserve Cambodia.
