摘要: Multipotential CNS stem cells receive and implement instructions governing differentiation to diverse neuronal glial fates. Exploration of the mechanisms generating many cell types brain depends crucially on markers identifying state. We describe a gene whose expression distinguishes from more differentiated in neural tube. This was named nestin because it is specifically expressed neuroepithelial cells. The predicted amino acid sequence product shows that defines distinct sixth class intermediate filament protein. These observations extend model which transitions reflect major steps pathway differentiation.
