Supratentorial recurrences of gliomas. Morphological studies in relation to time intervals with astrocytomas.

摘要: We report 137 recurrent supratentorial astrocytomas. The primary tumours diagnosed on the basis of a grading system with three stages were 72 astrocytomas I and 65 II. In first group 14% recurrences not changed, 55.5% became II, 30.5% glioblastomas. second 55.4% unchanged, 44.6% postoperative intervals until reintervention or death statistically examined. It seems that recurrence time chiefly depends nature tumour. transformation an astrocytoma to glioblastoma takes longer than II into glioblastoma. about two thirds all increase malignancy is be expected. From histological picture it possible in individual case predict likelihood speed malignant change. With regard effect irradiation authors conclude radiotherapy most probably does produce malignancy.
