摘要: Abstract We consider the circumstances under which nuclear matter at high densities can be produced in heavy ion collisions. argue that lab energies of a few hundred MeV per nucleon will suitable : velocity exceed speed isentropic compression waves, while has sufficient stopping power to generate shock front. From hydrodynamic conservation laws we show there is maximum attainable ratio ν ∞ , determined by thermal properties high-density matter. In an independent-fermion model, = 4, but it much larger if phase system changes, for example excitation isobars, production π-mesons, or scalar-field condensation conjectured Lee and Wick. discuss propagation front subsequent decompression dense, hot
