摘要: Ethanol production at high temperatures has garnered much interest in recent years and a key factor is the availability of thermotolerant yeasts. During an investigation on diversity yeasts from different habitats, novel yeast species spent wash distillery unit associated with sugar factory was isolated. Phylogenetic analysis D1/D2 large subunit ITS rRNA genes placed this ascomycetous genus Wickerhamiella. The can be distinguished closely related Wickerhamiella pararugosa using these gene regions. cells new are ovoid to ellipsoid diameter 3.5-6.0×2.4-3.10 µm, while W. cylindrical cell 1.5-3.0×6-23 µm. This represents, together cacticola, one two most Wickerhamiella, able grow 42 °C. shivajii sp. nov. proposed during study.
