摘要: Obesity is a metabolic disease that widely prevalent with approximately 600 million people classified as obese worldwide. Its etiology multifactorial and involves complex interplay between genes the environment. Over past few decades, obesity rates among Emirati population have been increasing. The aim of this study was to investigate association candidate gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), namely FTO (rs9939609) VDR (rs1544410), in UAE population. This case-control which genomic DNA extracted from saliva samples 201 obese, 115 overweight, 98 normal subjects United Arab Emirates (UAE). Genotyping for variants performed using TaqMan assay. mean Body Mass Index (BMI) ± SD 35.76 ± 4.54, 27.53 ± 1.45, 22.69 ± 1.84 kg/m2, respectively. Increasing BMI values were associated increase HbA1c, systolic diastolic blood pressure. There significant observed SNP rs9939609 (p = 0.028), minor allele A having clear additive effect on values. no detected rs1544410 VDR. Moreover, interaction physical activity reduced “AA” genotype (p = 0.027). Our findings indicate has increasing our support fact risks other comorbidities such higher pressure, poorer glycemic control, triglycerides. In addition, found attenuate predisposition
