摘要: Background Hyperhomocyst(e)inemia is a risk factor for atherosclerosis and prevalent in the elderly. The objective of this study was to determine whether hyperhomocyst(e)inemia associated with impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation humans. Methods Results High-resolution vascular ultrasonography used -independent nonatherosclerotic peripheral conduit artery 26 elderly hyperhomocyst(e)inemic subjects 15 age- sex-matched normal homocysteine levels. Flow-mediated, (nitric oxide–mediated) assessed by measuring percent change brachial diameter during reactive hyperemia. Endothelium-independent after administration 0.4 mg sublingual nitroglycerin. Endothelium-dependent significantly compared control (3.7±0.6% versus 8.1±1.2%; P =.004), whereas endothelium-independent not different between two groups (10.1±1.6% 9.3±1.5%; =NS). In linear regression analysis serum concentration, folic acid, age, sex, cholesterol (serum total, LDL, or HDL cholesterol), mean arterial blood pressure, use antihypertensive medication, baseline included as covariates, concentration emerged only significant predictor flow-mediated vasodilation. Conclusions These data indicate that humans suggest bioavailability nitric oxide decreased humans. ( . 1997;95:1119-1121.)
