摘要: Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and hyperuricemia are important risk factors for cardiovascular disease. However, findings regarding the relationship between serum uric acid (UA) level components of MetS have been inconsistent. This study was performed to explore potential value UA as a marker among male female Chinese different ages. Methods: A total 5896 subjects (2960 females 2936 males) were recruited from Department Health Management at Chang Gung Medical Center. Hyperuricemia defined >7.0 mg/dL males or >6.0 females. according criteria Adult Treatment Panel III, modified subjects. Serum used differentiate calculate epidemiological indices by means discriminate analysis logistic regression. Results: The sensitivity specificity concentration ranged 55.2% 61.4% 61.9% 68.4%, respectively. Subjects with high had higher MetS, odds ratios ranging 1.23 1.82 (P < 0.01). positive correlation observed in both sexes. occurrence rose increasing age females; males, however, values did not vary age. Conclusions: is more closely associated than males. High middle-aged women may predict development MetS.
