摘要: Nigerien subsistence farmers increasingly rely on marginal lands for food production as a result of ongoing soil degradation, limited fertile land availability and growing population pressure. These degraded lands, however, generally provide poor yields, which is largely assigned to an increased vulnerability drought, major part the rainfall lost through inefficient rain water distribution. More efficient use rainwater can be achieved with aid conservation (WSC) techniques, positively alter balance in favour productive water. In Niger, zai demi-lunes WSC techniques improve but their adoption has not been widespread, dissemination encounters difficulties. To identify quantify importance presence several constraints Tillaberi region, we conducted 100 households surveys exploring farmers' erosion perception, technique knowledge resource availability. Although important triggers such insecurity are present, region's rate low. The application by manure shortage lack specific knowledge, indicating need specialized policy focusing more than yield increase alone. Most have little awareness causes effects therefore do relate indirect benefits, taken into account secure sustainable solutions drought insecurity. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
