摘要: Africa's goat population increased by 75% between 1980 and 2005 constitutes 30% of the world population. Although Africa produces about 20% world's chevon, its share chevon market has been declining. Exports from represent less than 5% total trade. Most goats are raised smallholder farmers for subsistence trading in informal markets. The renowned Boer, Kalahari Red Savanna meat breeds that were developed South Africa. Information on most African is scanty, but there seems to be large variations breed characteristics, which suggests a potential selective breeding more breeds. Recommendations enhancing production include, prioritizing research technology transfer production, development breeds, devising methods enhance quality through pre- post-harvest interventions, improved support government institutions policy.
