摘要: Background: Motor cortex stimulation (MCS) is being offered to patients suffering from neuropathic pain. Outcome prediction, programming and especially sustaining a long-term treatment effect represent major challenges. We report retrospective analysis of our treated with MCS over median follow-up 39.1 months. Objectives: To investigate the time course in for Methods: Twenty-three closely followed were retrospectively analyzed. Reduction pain measured on visual analogue scale (VAS) was defined as primary outcome parameter. VAS level adverse events documented at 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-, 18- 24-month follow-ups. Results: The mean under best medical 7.8 (SD 1.2, range 5-9) escalation 9.3 0.9, 6-10) when patients' medications missed or delayed. About half (47.8%) experienced satisfactory (>50%) reduction during first month treatment. results seen 3-month (mean 4.8, SD 1.9, -37.2% compared baseline). A decline generally observed subsequent assessments. Six had their devices explanted period due loss effect. Conclusions: In this study, failed provide control Many aspects still remain unclear, neural circuits involved response stimulation. Means must be developed overcome problems promising technique.
