摘要: Extensive shrimp farming around Deep Bay, Hong Kong, began in the mid-1940‘s after construction of intertidal ponds (gei wai) among coastal mangroves. The are increasingly being seen as an example how wetlands can be used sustainablysince they naturally stocked with postlarvae (e.g. Metapenaeus ensis) and young fish Mugil cephalus) flushed into from Bay. Once inside, these shrimps feed on occurring detritus pond floor. only gei wai remaining Territory, those at WWF Kong Mai Po Marshes Nature Reserve, adjacent to Analysis production between 1990–1995 showed that there were two seasonal peaks, April–June (Recruitment-I)and July–October (Recruitment-II). second peak was significantly lower than first (p <0.001), especially southern part reserve which much closer a polluted river. average harvest each had also declined from40.9 ±6.0 kg ha−1 yr−1 1990 to15.1 ±3.6 1995 <0.01). This decline attributed abundance predatory wai, increasing water pollution Bay adversely affects amount larvae for stocking well quality flushing during rearing harvesting seasons. Despite this, not-commercially viable still support many non-commercial, more tolerant species. As result, management segei has been altered such their objective is provide feeding habitat piscivorous waterbirds, line aims nature reserve.
