摘要: Abstract This paper is an extension of a previous study by Lau and Chu (1999a) (Lau, S. Chu, L. M. The significance sediment contamination in coastal wetland, Hong Kong, China. Water Research (in press)) which focused upon patterns at the internationally important wetlands Mai Po Marshes (Hong Kong), receive continual pollution inputs from Mainland China Kong. core aims present were to investigate potential effects temporal variability assessment subtropical inter-tidal evaluation sink-source nature contaminated sediment. Sediment quality was examined for four seasons (spring, summer, autumn winter) across six sites Marshes. total concentrations Cd, Cu, Ni Zn exceeded fifteen times background level. Results one-way ANOVA tests showed that soluble nutrients (N P) metals (Cd, Zn) sediments highly temporally dependent, with variations contaminant contaminant. Significant may effect interpretation implementation management regimes wetland ecosystems. Overall, results ran counter conventional wisdom are negligible quality.
