摘要: Eukaryotic microalgae have recently gained particular interest as bioreactors because they provide attractive alternatives to bacterial, yeast, plant and other cell-based systems currently in use. Over the last years there has been considerable progress genetic engineering technologies for algae. Biotechnology companies start apply these techniques alter metabolic pathways express valuable compounds different cell compartments. In particular, eukaryotic unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii appears be a most promising factory since high amounts of foreign proteins expressed its chloroplast compartment. For this complete nuclear, plastidal mitochondrial genome sequences determined databases are available any searching or cloning requirements. Apart from being easily transformable, stable transgenic strains production volumes full containment can obtained within relatively short time. Furthermore, C. is green which belongs category organisms generally recognized safe (GRAS status). Thus, enhancing food with edible algae like engineered (over)produce functional ingredients potential become an important factor feed technologies.
