Student perceptions about interprofessional education after an elective course

摘要: A growing body of evidence indicates interprofessional collaborative practice improves patient care. With this in mind, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center formally committed to expanding education (IPE) initiatives. Thirty-eight self-selected students enrolled an IPE elective course during the fall 2012. Students completed Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) pre- and post-course also a survey. Results indicated significant change roles responsibilities scale RIPLS. Analysis data from survey demonstrated were able identify key terms definition, as related their learning experience. In addition, themes communication, learning/increased knowledge, collaboration/contribution other health care professionals noted across all questions Based on results study, is promising educational opportunity increase awareness knowledge within academic medical centers.
