Fabrication of uniformly dispersed nanoparticle-doped chalcogenide glass

摘要: The dispersion of metallic nanoparticles within a chalcogenide glass matrix has the potential for many important applications in active and passive optical materials. However, challenge particle agglomeration, which can occur during traditional thin film processing, leads to materials with poor performance. Here, we report on preparation uniformly dispersed Ag-nanoparticle (Ag NP)/chalcogenide heterogeneous material prepared through combined laser- solution-based process. Laser ablation bulk silver is performed directly an arsenic sulfide/propylamine solution resulting formation Ag NPs average size less than 15 nm as determined by dynamic light scattering. solutions are fabricated into films using standard coating processes then analyzed energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy transmission electron microscopy investigate shape distribution. By calculating nearest neighbor index normal deviate nanoparticle locations inside films, verify that distribution achieved this
