摘要: Three small lakes of the Kenya Highlands have been subject to intermittent paleoenvironmental investigation for more than 50 years. In this report, stratigraphic, core-based history Lake Naivasha (elev. 1890 m) is extended backward 20000 B.P. and related less complete 30000-year core stratigraphies from nearby Nakuru Elmenteita. The paleolimnological reconstructions, primarily diatom-based, include geochemical parameters first ostracode tropical Africa. analyses all three converge on a low fluctuating water levels over approximately past 4500 years, preceded by major Holocene high stand (ca. 10000–6000 B.P.) brief earlier rise centered 12500 were mostly very during late Pleistocene (13 000–30000 B.P.), though modestly elevated may occurred early in time period. record, comprising at least 15 species, was relatively continuous but restricted sharply demarcated regions cores other lakes.
