Novel ceramics prepared from inferior clay rich in CaO and Fe2O3: Properties, crystalline phases evolution and densification process

摘要: Abstract Inferior clay rich in CaO and Fe 2 O 3 is a typical with huge reserves southwest of China, which cannot be used traditional aluminosilicate system ceramics. To efficiently utilize the inferior clay, method preparing novel ceramics containing was put forward. In this study, effects proportion on properties, evolution crystalline phases densification process were analyzed by XRF, XRD, TG-DTA SEM-EDS combined physical properties tests. The results showed that addition (from 20 to 70 wt%) significantly affected sintering temperature 1190 1130 °C). High activity decomposed carbonate transformed into anorthite diopside at low temperature. promoted generation low-temperature liquid phase, facilitated process. fired (60 wt% clay) sintered 1130 °C exhibited excellent water absorption 0.05%, linear shrinkage 6.8% flexural strength 70 MPa. This batch applied an industrial experiment 1160 m qualified (ISO 10545-4:2004) fabricated.
