摘要: Sugar beet is a relatively young crop, which supposedly has narrow genetic base. Natural variation occurring in primitive varieties and wild Beta species been used for breeding sugar beet. This paper reviews information on desirable characteristics germplasm the attempts made introgression of such characters into commercial material. After an introduction availability possibilities hybridisation, attention focussed mating system (especially male sterility), morphological physiological characteristics, including yield content, resistances to diseases pests.
