Nutritional Status and Diet Intake among Hypertensive Palestinians in Gaza Strip

A case control was conducted at Primary Care centers in Gaza Strip. proportional systematic random sample 120 cases matched with sex, locality healthy controls attended adult screening clinics. Participants completed self-administered questionnaires included socio-demographic characteristics food frequency intakes. Anthropometric measurements physical examination were abstracted from clinic files. Collected data entered analyzed using SPSS V20. Patients Hypertension are older, more lower socioeconomic obese. Cases similar following diet regimen; even reported frequent regimens than (65.1% vs. 44%). percentage intake for milk products, white meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, grains, sweets tea – coffee drinks. presented higher consumption fruits (50.8% 22.5%), soft drinks (36.7% 16.7 %). These reached a statistical significant level (P <0.001). less frequently consumed lean red meat trimmed visible fat (80.8% 97.5% controls) differences statistically < 0.001). When adjusting variables low fruit, legumes, fat, high fried drink positively associated hypertension. We recommend raising public awareness towards based guidelines ensure control.
