摘要: Derelict and degraded land destroys amenity, causes pollution is a waste of productive surface. Despite the worldwide activity to restore it there an enormous backlog, which in England has increased since 1974. In past much this restoration was empirically based not always successful. But natural ecosystems develop unaided on raw starting materials by ecological processes. A proper understanding these led more reliable inexpensive techniques. At same time we have come realize that, because, at start, slate been wiped clean, many different end points are possible. challenge opportunity for creative manipulation our landscape. Yet what achieved practice often pedestrian, unscientific uneconomic. Often simple treatments that would minimize impact industrial activity, set off early right direction, carried out. plenty good examples can be done. It appears once may victims British failure technology imagination transfer. For fault seems lie broadly, only with planners, industrialists government, making sure something done, but also scientists, applying their knowledge sufficiently problems hard practice.
