摘要: BACKGROUND Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is an occupational health hazard among the healthcare workers. Vaccination against HBV has been established to be most effective preventive strategy. The present study was designed assess efficacy of low dose intradermal vaccine nursing staff in a tertiary care hospital setting. PATIENTS AND METHODS Staff nurses working our were included as recipients. Each nurse tested for HBsAg and anti-HBs (commercial ELISA). Those who negative both above markers randomized receive either three doses intramuscular (i.m.) (20 micrograms m each dose) at 0, 1 6 month interval or (2 similar intervals. recipient presence anti HBs ELISA) end year after last vaccine. titres also estimated simultaneously them. RESULTS Out 153 screened, 19 positive (n = 1) 18). 96(72%) remaining 134 agreed (i.m.--48, intradermal--48). At vaccine, all vaccinees group anti-HBs. However significantly higher than receiving through intra-dermal route (253 +/- 127.7 mIU/ml vs 151.3 92.8 mIU/ml, P < 0.001). Eighty four (85.5%) these 96 available evaluation titre (1M 40, Intradermal 44). All continued but HBs-titre i.m. remain level recipients (256.4 124.7 121.6 122.4 p CONCLUSION had immunogenic conventional route, required former one tenth route. Therefore may reduce cost markedly.
