摘要: In view of the increasing threat posed by fungal infections in immunocompromised patients and due to non-availability effective treatments, it has become imperative find novel antifungals vigorously search for new drug targets. Fungal pathogens acquire resistance drugs (antifungal), as well-established phenomenon termed multidrug (MDR), which tampers treatment strategies. The MDR is spread throughout evolutionary scale. Accordingly, a host responsible gene have been identified genetically tractable yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, well pathogenic Candida albicans. Studies so far suggest that while antifungal culmination multiple factors, there may be unifying mechanism these pathogens. ABC (ATP binding cassette) MFS (major facilitator superfamily) transporters belonging two different superfamilies, are most prominent contributors yeasts. Considering abundance their wider specificity, believed not exclusively export fungi. It apparent superfamily S. cerevisiae C. albicans multifunctional proteins, mediate important physiological functions. This review summarizes current research on molecular mechanisms underlying resistance, emerging regulatory circuits genes, relevance transporters.
