摘要: Publisher Summary The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the mammalian brain, locus of circadian pacemaker, contains a variety neuropeptides acting as neurotransmitters or modulators. Levels four peptides that are synthesized SCN were determined throughout 24-hour period. Time course analysis message abundance encoding these suggested changes levels underlie profiles peptide contents SCN. Vasopressin and somatostatin messenger RNA (mRNA) found to exhibit rhythm under constant conditions, while mRNA content vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) did not show such rhythm. presence two distinct subtypes terms their contents, morphologically subregions, is another indication substructure involved proper maintenance One remarkable observations present series experiments absence different variations subdivisions SCN, shown by various neurochemical substances. Activity against vasopressin (AVP) (SS) displayed rhythms with similar profiles, whereas VIP gastrin releasing (GRP) change unless environmental lighting conditions changed. courses levels, general, showed parallel corresponding some phase differences.
