摘要: Abstract Structural analyses carried out in the southern-central Alborz (Iran) have shown that evolution of this belt has been strongly conditioned by inversion pre-existent extensional faults. Inversion tectonics identified especially southern part belt, and it is related to reactivation grabens formed foreland Late Triassic Eo-Cimmerian orogen, resulting from accretion Iranian block Eurasia. Three main associations structures—active during late Cenozoic—have distinguished: (1) E–W thrust faults folds followed activation (2) right-lateral strike-slip associated large ENE–WSW trending en echelon folds, finally (3) ESE–WNW SE–NW left-lateral inverting some cases previous Central controlled geometry pre-existing tectonic discontinuities, which are responsible for strain partitioning between reverse convergence. These results provide new insights on style complex intracontinental can be considered a significant example transpressive tectonics.
