摘要: This article examines feminists’ use of fashion in the 1910s, arguing that and appearance became an important factor construction New Woman image integral part feminist ideology period. It explores how adopting adapting Oriental style, which came to dominate women’s at time, enabled feminists construct a modern political identity, while simultaneously situating themselves as fashionable trendy. Analyzing different ways employed express their views identities furthers understanding connections between consumer culture feminism—New Women did not see opposing ideas, but useful way achieve them.
