摘要: Nanoplasmonics or nanoscale metal-based optics is a field of science and technology with tremendously rich colourful history. Starting the early works Michael Faraday on gold nanocolloids optically-thin leaf, researchers have been fascinated by unusual optical properties displayed metallic nanostructures. We now can enjoy selecting from over 10 000 publications every year topic plasmonics number has doubling about three years since 1990. This impressive productivity be attributed to significant growth scientific community as spread into myriad new directions. With 2015 being International Year Light, it seems like perfect moment review some most notable accomplishments in date project where may moving next. After discussing major historical developments field, this article will analyse how successful applications are capitalizing five key strengths Introductory Lecture conclude brief look future.
