摘要: Abstract Most filters used in solid/gas separation are applied the “dead-end” mode, where aerosol particles arrive at filter on trajectories that approximately perpendicular to it. This study concerns alternative method of cross-flow filtration, which is common use for filtering liquids. In this previously studied by Menard et al. [Powder Technol. 71 (1992) 263], Thomas 76 (1993) 79] and Ferrer 113 (200) 197], some flow passes through filter, depositing surface, while sweeps past causing shear deposited cake. Depending operating conditions, particle aggregation can occur surface resulting aggregates be removed through-flow collected a downstream device. Laboratory scale equipment has been set up module coupled cyclone postseparator separate leaving filter. The were ceramic tubes 6 cm outside diameter, 4 inside diameter variable lengths. An limestone dust (mmd=5.0 μm) ambient air enters along axis; due aerodynamic conditions within deflected towards captured. results show cake detached form loose agglomerates rather than individual particles, easily means cyclone. collection efficiency shown filter/cyclone combination over 99% 5.0 μm (mmd) under optimum compared ≈90% stand-alone comparable pressure loss savings with system make it an attractive gas cleaning option.
